Sustainability at Climate Council Disrupt

Climate Council Disrupt is dedicated to ensuring sustainable practises. Find out how we're taking steps to minimise the impact on the planet during our clean energy conference.

REDUCING WASTE

NO SINGLE USE PLASTIC OR SIGNAGE

Conferences and events are notorious for producing considerable waste. At Climate Council Disrupt, we have eliminated all single use plastic, with no plastic lanyards, cutlery, printed agendas or passes at the event. Furthermore, there will be no printed signage. Instead, all information and staging will be on digital screens to ensure we are reducing waste as far as possible.

ENERGY use

ENERGY EFFICIENT LED SCREENS

Throughout Climate Council Disrupt we will be using LED screens, which offer a more eco-friendly alternative to traditional light sources such as LCD screens. LED screens use less electricity than standard AV, and have a longer average life span, having a more positive impact on the planet.

food sourcing

LOCAL, ORGANIC INGREDIENTS

One thing every conference needs – food! We're proud to be working with The Ritz-Carlton to ensure all food offered at Climate Council Disrupt is locally sourced, using organic ingredients. This is helping to reduce CO2 emissions by avoiding the need to import products from overseas, allowing attendees to enjoy a sustainble, organic menu.

SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS

COMMITMENT TO REUSING & recycling

The Ritz-Carlton is mindful of its impact on the environment, and has implemented procedures to reduce waste. For example, they offer a linen and terry reuse program, and have several recycling initiatives. At Disrupt, we have partnered with RePlaste, a sustainable material design startup, operating across Abu Dhabi, UAE & Lahore, Pakistan.

LONG TERM GOALS

BEST PRACTICE FOR THE FUTURE

There is a comprehensive sustainability strategy at the heart of The Ritz-Carlton, led by property-based Environmental Action Conservation Teams, who use a framework of environmental strategies to identify sustainability projects. Furthmore, all Ritz-Carlton Hotels are activated in the Green Hotels Global tool, providing information on environmental practices across energy, waste management, and supply chains.

COMMUNITY FIRST

VENUE COMMUNITY PROJECTS

The Ritz-Carlton has a genuine commitment to supporting to the community and the environment. Locally, the venue works to better the environment through community projects such as native plant restoration, the protection of endangered species and the creation of community gardens.
