Artur Nunes da Silva
President and CEO, Total Canada
Artur Nunes da Silva was appointed President & CEO of Total E&P Canada on September 1, 2016. In his role, Mr. Nunes da Silva collaborates with partners in the responsible development of the Group’s long-term assets in the Athabasca Oil Sands region, including Fort Hills and Surmont. He will also continue to work with industry to improve safety, environmental performance and sustainability as well as competiveness in oil sands development.
Mr. Nunes da Silva joined Total in 1996 as a Production Engineer in Pau, France, and has since worked his entire career in the Group’s Exploration & Production branch. He has held leadership positions in technical sales, project development, pre-project studies and site management in Uruguay, Angola, France and Qatar.
More recently from 2010 to 2014, Mr. Nunes da Silva returned to his home country of Angola to take the position of Block 32 Asset Manager, wherein lies one of Total E&P Angola’s flagship projects, Kaombo. In September 2014, he was appointed Managing Director of Total E&P Uruguay, where he brought a rich experience in project development, particularly in the ultra-deep offshore sector where Total uruguayn affiliate set the drilling water –depth world record in Raya at 3404 m..
Mr. Nunes da Silva graduated from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure du Pétrole et des Moteurs (ENSPM) in Rueil-Malmaison, France.
