Minister of Hydrocarbons, Ecuador
Carlos Pérez García is the new Minister of Hydrocarbons of Ecuador. He grew up in Ancón, province of Santa Elena, where oil activity began in Ecuador, in a family environment related to the hydrocarbons sector. He studied Electronic Engineering at the University of Austin, Texas, USA. Since 1976, he has worked in the international oil industry, in leading companies. He has carried out technical, commercial and managerial functions in more than a dozen countries on different continents.
Throughout his career, the new minister has sought to generate work and attract investment for the country. His work has been marked by a clear vision of environmental care and cooperation with the community.
One of his first activities as Minister of Hydrocarbons will be to represent the country at the CLXXII regular meeting of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), this May 25, in Vienna, Austria. The Government has ratified its support for oil production cuts, under the conviction that these will lead to fairer international prices for producing countries.
Carlos will be speaking on the ECUADOR PANEL: REGULATORY IMPROVEMENTS AND UPSTREAM PROSPECTS at the 2019 South America Assembly: Northern Edition.
