David Marshall is a London-based partner in the Baker Botts corporate team with over 20 years’ experience of all forms of M&A and a particular focus on private equity, venture capital and growth capital transactions in the technology sector. These include buyouts, minority co-investments, fundraisings, acquisitions, disposals and portfolio management. He advises investors, management teams, founders, investee companies, family offices, corporate venture teams at multinationals and development banks. Recent transactions include advising UK-headquartered payments business Azimo on its acquisition by Papaya Global (Israel), NASDAQ-listed video games developer Modern Times Group MTG AB (Sweden) on the acquisition of mobile gaming studios in the UK (Hutch Games), New Zealand (Ninja Kiwi) and India (PlaySimple) and the management teams at Calisen (UK) and Fotona (Slovenia/US) on their equity terms opposite a BlackRock/Goldman Sachs/Mubadala consortium and Vitruvian Partners respectively. In addition to his technology focus, David has particular expertise in the energy sector. He has advised Shell Ventures on investments in the UK, Luxembourg and Israel, and previously spent three years in Moscow, advising oil majors on significant downstream projects.
