Javier Areitio is Mexico based and responsible for Actis Long Life Infrastructure Fund’s investments in Spanish speaking Latin America. Javier joined Actis in 2016 as part of the Energy team, where he led the acquisition of Gestamp Wind Brazil, key building block for Actis Energy 4 platform Echoenergia.  Javier transitioned to the Infrastructure team in 2017.

He has 16 years of experience in the infrastructure space, including over 10 years of renewable energy sector investing,

most recently as Managing Director and Head of Origination for Europe and Latin America at TerraForm Power and TerraForm Global (2013-2016) where he led the UK and LatAm solar portfolios build-up and supported the subsequent IPOs. Prior to that and from 2011 to 2013 he was the Head of Structured Finance for EMEA and Latin America at SunEdison, where he built and led a team that structured, financed and sold c. 1 GW of solar projects. Javier joined SunEdison as Head of Business Development for Europe in 2010, acquiring over 200 MW of solar projects. 

Before SunEdison, Javier worked for Banco Santander (2008-2010) making early stage principal investments in solar projects as part of the team that later spun off as Cubico Investments. Prior to that, he set up an infrastructure software business (2006-2008) currently active in Colombia and worked for Morgan Stanley’s Investment Banking Division in London (2003-2006) advising Spanish clients in M&A and capital markets transactions totalling over USD12 Billion.

Javier holds a MSc. in Management and Business Administration from ICADE (Universidad Pontificia de Comillas) in Madrid.
