Jérôme Halbout is a Managing Partner of 4D Global Energy Advisors, currently managing $450 million investments from three growth capital funds dedicated to the Oil & Gas sector, mainly in Europe. 4D invested to date in 15 small- and medium-sized private companies operating in the Upstream (North Sea, Senegal, Turkey) to the Downstream (Italy) and the Services & Technology (France, UK, Italy, USA) segments of the value chain.

Prior to founding 4D in 2001, Mr. Halbout’s experience in the energy sector dated to 1992, as Head of the Energy Project Finance at Crédit Lyonnais and Lazard Frères & Cie. Subsequently he was Senior Banker, Head of the Energy/Utilities Sector at Crédit Lyonnais.
A graduate of Ecole Normale Supérieure (Paris), Mr. Halbout holds a Doctorat ès Sciences and a Ph.D in Geochemistry from the Paris University. He undertook 10 years of basic research at the CNRS and as a post-doc at the Enrico Fermi Institute (University of Chicago). Active in many industry conferences and think-tanks, such as the French Petroleum Institute’s Energy Club, he sits on the Board of EVOLEN, the association of French oil services companies and is a director of portfolio companies Africa Fortesa Corporation and FOROIL SAS.
