Laura Vila

Laura has been six years working in IFC’s Mexico office where she has led business development efforts, in particular in telecommunications and oil and gas, and worked in equity and debt transactions in sectors such as financial markets, private equity and manufacturing. Laura has acted as Country Manager is several occasions. Last year, she joined the China-Mexico Fund team and is primarily responsible for the oil and gas program of the Fund.
Laura joined IFC in 2005 and before coming to Mexico, she worked in the Portfolio Management and the Equity department. Before IFC, Laura worked for 5 years at the Central Bank of Colombia in the international reserves department. Overall, Laura has over 15 years of experience in finance, including portfolio and risk management, FX and fixed income trading, market research and debt and equity transactions.
She holds a Master in Financial Engineering and a Master in Applied Economics from University of Michigan and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Universidad de los Andes in Bogota, Colombia. She is fluent in Spanish and English and has conversational skills in Italian and Portuguese.
