
Luis Arizaga
Founder, EIRA Capital
Luis Arizaga is the Founding Partner of EIRA Capital, a new investment platform that focuses on Energy and Infrastructure transactions in Mexico, and selected countries in Latin America. EIRA Capital is currently in its establishment phase, and negotiating several suitable projects that meet its investment criteria. EIRA Capital is also engaging in financial advisory projects for the same industries, and developing selective renewable energy projects.
Mr. Arizaga was formerly the Head of Acquisitions for Macquarie Mexican Infrastructure Fund (MMIF), which was the first Infrastructure Fund in Mexico, and is part of the Macquarie family of funds. Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets (MIRA) is the largest infrastructure investor globally, managing more than $110 billion dollars of assets under management. As Head of Acquisitions, he was involved in the origination and execution of transactions, as well as asset management activities for the fund assets. During Mr. Arizaga’s years at Macquarie, he also held board positions in the several investments made by the fund which covered energy, PPPs, roads, and telecom companies.
Through his more than seven years at Macquarie, Mr. Arizaga also focused on Latin American tthird-party financial advisory, capital raising, and principal investment transactions in the energy, telecom, real estate, and infrastructure space. Key countries of coverage
included Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and Peru.
Mr. Arizaga’s previous involvement at financial institutions include positions in the investment banking teams of Deutsche Bank’s M&A group in New York, and Citibank’s Banamex Accival M&A group in Mexico. He also held the CFO position at Geopolis, which
was Corporacion, GEO’s land development division.
In addition, Mr. Arizaga currently participates as: (i) Independent Member of the Investment Committee of INFONAVIT’s Investment Fund; (ii) board member of SIMPATI Mobile, a new Mobile Virtual Network Operator covering the Mexican Market; and (iii) founder of Fundación
Reversible, a new charitable foundation focused on global warming issues. Mr. Arizaga holds an MBA from the Stern School of Business at New York University and a BA in Accounting and Finance from ITESM in Mexico.
