Asia Pacific Exploration Manager, ExxonMobil Exploration Company

Sarah Trend is the Asia Pacific Exploration Manager for ExxonMobil Exploration Company, with responsibility for operations across the region, including Papua New Guinea, Australia, and Malaysia, as well as new opportunities.

Prior to this role, she worked as the Investor Relations Upstream Advisor for Exxon Mobil Corporation, communicating Exxon Mobil’s core strategies, strengths, and competitive position to the investment community.

Sarah’s earlier assignments have included a variety of technical and leadership roles across ExxonMobil’s Upstream business, including Exploration Project Manager, managing exploration activities offshore five West African countries.  She has also served as Strategic Planning Advisor for Africa Exploration and Geoscience Supervisor for four major Development projects in Eastern Canada.  She was a Senior Geophysicist in ExxonMobil Production Company before moving to management, with more than ten years’ experience in quantitative seismic interpretation, petrophysical analysis, and drillwell planning and execution.

An active mentor, Sarah has developed and taught courses in forward seismic modeling, asset business planning, and inclusion & diversity.  She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Earth Sciences from Dalhousie University and a Master’s Degree in Exploration Geophysics from the University of Calgary.

Sarah is a registered Professional Geoscientist and member of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists.  In her free time she enjoys baking, fine dining, and ballroom dancing.  She currently resides in Melbourne with her husband and two children.
